We’ve been married for six months, and this was our first proper vacation together. As someone who planned every detail down to the last rupee (and then also daydreamed about what it’d be like to splurge!), I thought I’d break down the full cost of a Goa trip for couples—whether you’re on a tight budget, planning a sweet premium getaway, or going full-blown luxury.
No matter your travel style, Goa truly has something for everyone—sunsets, seafood, parties, peace, and palm trees. So, let’s talk numbers. I’m sharing what we spent, plus what you could spend depending on your vibe.
Duration of Our Trip
We stayed for 5 days and 4 nights, which I think is perfect for a Goa holiday. Long enough to soak in both North Goa’s energy and South Goa’s calm.

Accommodation in Goa (4 Nights)
We stayed at a premium Airbnb villa in Assagao, which cost us around ₹18,000 total. It was clean, romantic, had a cute balcony, and was close to beaches and cafes.
But here’s a breakdown by budget:
Budget Stay (₹1,500 per night): Hostels like The Hosteller Goa or cheap guesthouses in Anjuna.
Premium Stay (₹4,000–₹5,000 per night): Boutique hotels or Airbnbs like Mateus Boutique Hotel or villas on Airbnb.
Luxury Stay (₹12,000–₹20,000+ per night): Think Taj Fort Aguada or W Goa. Absolute dream!
Getting Around in Goa
We rented an Activa scooter for ₹400 per day, so around ₹2,000 for five days, including a little extra for fuel. It gave us complete freedom and was surprisingly romantic too—wind in our hair, driving along coconut-lined roads.
Budget: Rent a two-wheeler (~₹400/day). Try Royal Brothers.
Premium: Rent a car (₹1,200–₹2,000/day) from Zoomcar.
Luxury: Hire a private cab or chauffeur service (₹2,500–₹4,000/day). You can even book sedans or SUVs via Savaari.
Food & Drinks
This was our favorite part. From fish thalis to beach shack cocktails, Goa spoils you! Here’s a sample of our food itinerary:
Day 1: Local seafood thali at Ritz Classic, Panaji (₹900 for two)
Day 2: Beachside candlelight dinner at Thalassa (₹2,500 with drinks)
Day 3: Brunch at Artjuna (₹800)
Day 4: Café hopping in Assagao—Sublime, Baba Au Rhum, and Mojigao
Day 5: Goan curry and bebinca at a local joint
Budget: Street food, thalis, shacks (₹300–600 per meal)
Premium: Cafe meals, dinners with wine (₹1,000–2,500)
Luxury: Fine-dining at places like Pousada by the Beach or tasting menus at Cavatina
Activities & Experiences
We kept a nice mix of chill and adventure. Here’s what we did:
Water sports at Baga – ₹1,000 per person for parasailing and jet skiing
Dudhsagar Waterfalls day trip – ₹2,500 for two (jeep + guide)
Sunset cruise on Mandovi River – ₹600 per couple
Fort Aguada + Chapora Fort – Free entry!
For the luxury crowd, consider:
Private yacht rental from Champions Yacht Club
Luxury spa day at Sereno Spa, Park Hyatt Goa
Shopping in Goa
Let’s be honest, every couple wants cute souvenirs! We picked up:
Handmade shell jewelry (₹250)
Spice packs (₹300)
Handcrafted bags from the Saturday Night Market (₹700)
Budget: Night markets, flea markets, local artisans
Luxury: Boutiques in Fontainhas and Anjuna
Pro tip: Carry cash for small vendors—UPI isn’t accepted everywhere.
Miscellaneous Costs
We didn’t expect these but glad we had buffer money:
Sunscreen, hats, extra flip-flops – ₹800
SIM card/top-ups – ₹200
Entry fees for museums/churches – ₹200

Transportation Costs
Getting to Goa
Budget: We've flown with low-cost carriers like IndiGo and SpiceJet by booking 2-3 months in advance, paying around ₹8,000-12,000 for two round-trip tickets from major metros like Delhi or Mumbai. The cheapest option is taking overnight buses or trains (₹3,000-6,000 for two people round-trip).
Mid-range: Booking regular flights 3-4 weeks in advance costs about ₹15,000-20,000 for two people round-trip.
Luxury: Last-minute premium economy or business class flights (or during peak season) can cost ₹30,000-60,000 for two people round-trip.
Money-saving tip: We used flight comparison sites and coupons like MakeMyTrip and Skyscanner to grab deals, and Tuesday/Wednesday flights tend to be cheaper.
Local Transportation in Goa
Budget: Renting a scooter costs around ₹300-500 per day (₹2,100-3,500 for a week), plus fuel (roughly ₹500-1,000 for a week of exploring).
Mid-range: Self-drive car rentals cost ₹1,200-2,000 per day (₹8,400-14,000 for a week) through services like Zoomcar.
Luxury: Hiring a car with driver costs ₹2,500-3,500 per day (₹17,500-24,500 for a week).
Our experience: During our budget trips, we always rented a scooter—it's the most convenient way to explore Goa's narrow lanes and avoid parking hassles. For our luxury trip, we hired a car with driver for airport transfers and longer trips, but still rented a scooter for local exploration.
Accommodation Costs
Budget: Basic guesthouses, hostels, or budget hotels cost ₹800-1,500 per night (₹4,000-7,500 for 5 nights). Check Zostel or Hostelworld.
Mid-range: 3-star hotels or nice Airbnbs cost ₹2,000-4,000 per night (₹10,000-20,000 for 5 nights). We've had great experiences booking through Airbnb and Booking.com.
Luxury: 4-5 star resorts, boutique hotels, or villas cost ₹6,000-15,000+ per night (₹30,000-75,000+ for 5 nights). For our luxury trip, we stayed at W Goa for two nights and a beautiful villa in Assagao for three nights.
Cost variations by area:
North Goa (Baga, Calangute, Anjuna): Generally 20-30% more expensive
South Goa (Palolem, Agonda, Patnem): Usually 10-20% cheaper for similar quality
Off-beach locations: Can be 30-40% cheaper than beachfront properties
Money-saving tip: We've found significantly lower rates (up to 25% off) during monsoon season (June-September), though some restaurants and beach shacks are closed during this period.

Book flights way in advance or travel during weekdays for better rates
Visit during shoulder season (March or October) for good weather without peak prices
Stay slightly away from the beach (even just 500m inland) for significantly cheaper accommodation
Rent a scooter instead of relying on taxis
Mix up your dining choices—we had local thalis for lunch and saved our splurges for special dinners
Book activities on the spot rather than online—local operators often offer better rates
Carry cash as many smaller places don't accept cards and charge extra for digital payments
Book longer stays for 15-20% discounts on accommodation
Look for accommodation with kitchen access to prepare some meals yourself
Research and compare prices for water sports at different beaches—rates vary significantly
